The I Like Twists six piece tension tool set is primarily produced from SS flat wire. One of them is made from Gov Steel. The benefit from this type of turning tool is that your finger's tension control is modified from 100% to a tension range. There are times when this is extremely important such as in picking spool pins. When lifting the trapped spool (or serrated) pin from it's trapped position, a lighter tension will allow the plug to reverse the slight amount required to allow the bottom of the pin to rise above the sheer line.
Another benefit to those of us who get a little heavy handed at times is that we don't need to rest the pick on the front of the keyway and crank like crazy because our tension is too high. Each of the six turning tools are of a unique size to allow for keyway fit and tension range choices. They are made with a 5/8 inch bend at one end, accompanied by a 45 degree twist.
